What is different about lighting a Suffolk County house?
Space and trees, mostly. Suffolk properties tend to be deeper, more wooded, and set further back from the road than their Nassau equivalents, and that changes the design in three ways.
- The house is further from the street. A roofline that reads clearly from 40 feet away can disappear at 120 feet. On deep lots the display often needs the driveway and the front trees carrying part of the work, not just the roof edge.
- There are more mature trees, and they are bigger. Wrapping a 45-foot oak on a Dix Hills or Huntington property is a different job from wrapping a young maple on a grid lot. Trees are priced by trunk height and reach, and they are often the best value on a big property.
- South shore homes take the weather. From Lindenhurst and West Babylon through Bay Shore, salt air and wind off the Great South Bay chew through cheap clips and connectors. We run commercial-grade materials rated for exposure, and replacing them is our problem, not yours.
North Shore towns like Northport, Huntington, and Port Jefferson add a fourth wrinkle: older housing with steep pitches, deep porch roofs, and village streets where the crew needs somewhere to park. None of that is a problem, it just needs to be in the plan before the truck shows up.

How early should I book in Suffolk County?
Book by early October. Suffolk generally stays open a week or two later than Nassau, but the good dates go first and pricing rises as the calendar fills. Installs run from late September through mid-December. The towns furthest from our Amityville base, Port Jefferson and Nesconset among them, get routed together on set days, so booking early is what gets you a date that suits you instead of the day the truck happens to be out there.
Do you charge more for towns further out?
No. The price is built from your property, not your zip code: roofline length, height and pitch, trees, ground lighting, and access. What distance affects is scheduling, not cost. Outlying towns get grouped onto the same route days so crews are not crossing the county twice, which is why booking early matters more out there than it does three miles from the base.
Can you light a house on a heavily wooded lot?
Yes, and it usually looks better than a bare lot. The design shifts weight away from the roofline and onto the trees and the approach: wrapped trunks, uplighting through the canopy, and lit driveway edges so the house reads from the road. On deep Suffolk lots a roof-only display often disappears at that distance. Tell us during the quote how the house sits and we will design around the sightline from the street.
Do you work on the South Shore waterfront?
Yes, from Lindenhurst and West Babylon through Bay Shore and the canal-front sections. Salt air and wind are the real design factors there: commercial-grade clips and connectors, runs anchored for wind rather than just clipped on, and materials rated for outdoor exposure. When something does fail, the Stay-Lit Guarantee covers it and a crew is back within 48 hours. Replacing worn materials is our cost, not a change order.
Are you insured, and can you send a certificate?
